The Osborn Room Archive

The Osborn Room is part of the Joachim Regional Museum/Dickinson Museum Center. Historic resources are available for research into such subjects as Dickinson, Stark County, outlying towns and communities, and Southwestern North Dakota. The Joachim Museum Archive collection includes journals, letters, maps, historic photos, books and family histories.

The Joachim Regional Museum Archive of photos, archival material and books contains a more informal look at the region. The collection is not online at this time so it can only be accessed in the museum archive room by appointment. Within this collection are family photo albums, postcards, letters, ledgers and other personal memorabilia dating from earliest years of Dickinson and the surrounding counties. The Archive is cataloged on the PastPerfect database and managed by the Dickinson Museum Center/ Joachim Regional Museum.

The Joachim Regional Museum Archive can only be accessed in person by appointment only. Appointments are available Tuesday-Friday between 10am-4pm. We ask that you book an appointment at least 2 weeks in advance as staff assistance is required to access the database and materials. Please call 701-456-6225 to book an appointment.

Online Digital Photo Archive

Southwestern North Dakota Digital Archive consists of images from three generations of the Osborn photo studio as well as from the studios of Presthus-Horstman. The photos offer a wonderful insight into the life in Dickinson/Stark County/Southwestern North Dakota. The collection contains an estimated 500,000 negatives and prints which are currently being scanned and uploaded online. This photo collection is owned by the Stark County Historical Society and can be accessed from any computer at https://dmc.omeka.net/
